Hi, This is to inform all of you that Ms Apurva Joshi, daughter of Prof. R.K. Joshi is in India right now. Apurva Joshi is working as the OpenType Program Manager at Microsoft. She is responsible for all things OpenType, including the OpenType Specification. Here I see an opprotunity to invite her to deliver a seminar on OpenType font, future of the OpenType technology, and possible extension of OpenType font format. She is in Mumbai till 14th October. If other friends are ready then we can arrange a seminar here at NCST, Juhu. Looking forward for your comments/suggestions. I would definitely like to attend such a seminar. Anything I can do to help set up also. She is here in Mumbai waiting for extension of her visa. She may not prefer place other than Mumbai. She is coming to NCST on Friday, 4th October. I'll try to arrange the seminar on the same day if it is feasible. Hi, I have just talked to Apurva on phone. She is keen to meet other people, talk about OpenType font, and get feedback from them. But as she doesn't have access to resources to give seminar, she wants it like informal talk and open discussion. People can ask her questions/queries about OpenType font and related things. We can arrange this meeting sometime in next week because it is not possible for me to arrange it in this week. She is coming to NCST on Friday. I request you all to prepare a list of questions which we can ask her. Please send all your questions by Friday morning. The resources she will need are- A PC/laptop with -WinXP or Win2K -OfficeXP (Optional) -VOLT -FontLab/FCP/pfaEdit/Fontographer or any other font glyph creation/editing tool ** -FPEditor -VTT (optional) Most of these tools are available on microsoft.com/typography site and are free downloads. NCST should have them already. I have them, except the tool marked with ** (I do have pfaEdit and FCP(eval)). I can burn a CD and courier, if necessary. Perhaps she also needs access to hardcopy of some document and readymade presentation slides.
