Check it out - the GNOME Malayalam Dev site, which I think is being done by FSF in assoc. w/ Govt of Kerala. Is there any overlapping work that can be shared btwn this effort and either IndLinux or Indix? http://www.keralaindustry.org/malayalam/ |

I think the best thing we can do is develop GPLed OpenType fonts for indic languages and And Input methods based on XIM or IIIMF More discussions on this issue cann't do anything. I think FSF India will be ready to co-orporate with us. The co-ordinator of the project, which you mentioned below will come to the workshop you are arranging at Bangalore. Talk with him. Regards, Baiju M (Because of some personal difficulties, I cannot come there for the workshop) --- "Tapan S. Another possible area is that Karunakar who is currently working on Gnome Translations can share his work with them, and also vice versa. It would be weird if the basic UI terms varied very widely between the Indic languages... Maybe this is a documentation section we should add to the web site.... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Baiju M" <mal...@ya...> To: "Tapan S. Please send the hindi basic UI terms to me. So that we can compare the basic UI terms. Its very urget, we are about to start our GNOME 2 translation work. BTW, Karunakar, Did you used GTranslator for your translations. Now it seems difficult to translate the strings. Next week onwards our group will start translating GNOME 2.0.1 I got compiled GNOME 2.0.0 now, everything is ok now, But only anti-aliasing feature is working for chillus(It makes use ZWJ), other wise chillu is not rendering. what will be the problem? Do you have Pango XFT module for Hindi? Regards, Baiju M --- "Tapan S. Some work seems to have been done at TDIL but its not accessible. The idea now is to get a rough translation done, which can be debated & modified later. > Maybe this is a documentation section we should add to the web > site.... > Right now working for translations for Gnome 2.0.2 release sched on 6th Sep. A translators guidelines is also in writing, this will be useful for any language. Regards, Karunakar |
