;;; -*-Mode: outline; fill-column: 78-*- I have just installed ilisp 5.11.1 and had the following problems. * Environment PC RedHast Linux 7.1 GNU emacs 20.7 allegro lisp * Modifications to the distribution files Just two, one totally benign. ** Makefile 1 # Use whichever you like most #EMACS = xemacs EMACS = /usr/local/bin/emacs #EMACS = emacs ** Makefile 2 is: ilisp-cl.elc ilisp-cmu.elc ilisp-sbcl.elc ilisp-cl-easy-menu.elc\ was: ilisp-cl.elc ilisp-cmu.elc ilisp-sbcl.elc ilisp-cl-easy-meny.elc\ * ^^^^^ * Make appeared to be successful. * Make loadfile crashed. It appears that ilisp-cl-easy-menu.elc does not exist, i.e., is not compiled, but it does appear in LoadFiles in the Makefile (also see above). Perhaps that u/y typo is somewhere else as well? * Apparent error in ilisp-cl-easy-menu.el See easy-menu-remove below Compiling file /usr/local/share/ILISP/ilisp-cl-easy-menu.el at Wed Aug 22 09:43:02 2001 ** reference to free variable compile ** reference to free variable eval ** reference to free variable ilisp-*use-hyperspec-interface-p* ** reference to free variable ilisp-mode-map ** easy-menu-remove called with 2 arguments, but accepts only 1 ** reference to free variable lisp-menu ** the function eval-when is not known to be defined. * No Info dir file That's it. Here is one I created. -*- Text -*- This is the ilisp addition to the Emacs Info DIR file. currentversionidentification "1.15" last-modification-date "Thu Aug 23 09:03:35 2001" File: dir Node: Top * Menu: Ilisp * Ilisp: (ilisp). Environment for Common Lisp Distributions. * Comment I do not know if anyone is interested in what is below; it is meant to be helpful. I write lisp, I use Emacs, it is what I experienced. It took a long time (more than half a day) to get ilisp installed, not because it is difficult, but because there is too much information and the essential stuff is mixed with the cute. For example, it took me some time to work out whether ilisp invokes cl or the other way around. This may seem obvious, and as soon as I got it, it was. But I had to work out just what ilisp is (no info at the very beginning) so that I could do the set up. A couple of introductory sentences would have been very useful. A second example is this from INSTALLATION: o All Common Lisp dialects Be sure that the variables: ilisp-binary-extension ilisp-init-binary-extension ilisp-binary-command Have the appropriate value. ... Well, what are appropriate values? I still have these commented-out in my initialization file, they still are nil, and I do not know if that is right. It says BE SURE ... (my emph). Also, I deduced, but was not told, that setting allegro-program is important. Well, it seems to be working, off I go ... Thank you for ilisp. [dajo 22 Aug 2001] |
