I agree completely with Joe: you shouldn't have any trouble using your ifp8xx under linux or *bsd. There are plenty of "Manager" drivers to choose from, and the linux has been successfully used with most "UMS" firmware. If you do run into problems, I'm sure someone on this list could help you. (After all, most of the iFP driver developers are subscribed.)
