MacroToXML shows many irregularities in it's
processing. Seems that the transformation code is
becoming too complex and difficult to maintain.

The problem seems to be in my quirky transofrmation code. I
think the best option is to just re-write the transformation
engine, as the actuall compilation system seems to work just
fine.
