Eclipse 3.1.1 on Linux doesn't recognize the plugin. I
unzipped the archive into the plugins directory. I
even tried the features directory and modified the
platforms.xml file. Doing this caused an error to be
displayed in the Help->Software Updates->Manage
Configuration window.

did you run 'eclipse -clean' to refresh your plugin cache?
