    Hi

First of all I just want to say thanks for porting this software.  I really appreciate all the work you have done.  It's great being able to use my iBurst card with a decent OS.

I have a one request regarding the way the source code is packaged:
Would it be possible to name the file containing the source code to have the same name as the project.  i.e. ibdriver-1.2.1.tar.gz.  The reason I ask is that I am a Gentoo user and writing ebuilds to install software on Gentoo is a lot easier when the file names are consist with the project name.

Also, since updating to 1.2.1 (from 3.10a) I'm getting the following error (from dmesg) when I plug the card in:
    irq 18: nobody cared!
    [<c013558a>] __report_bad_irq+0x2a/0x90
    [<c0134e89>] handle_IRQ_event+0x39/0x70
    [<c01356b3>] note_interrupt+0xa3/0xd0
    [<c0135021>] __do_IRQ+0x161/0x180
    [<c0105569>] do_IRQ+0x19/0x30
    [<c0103aee>] common_interrupt+0x1a/0x20
    [<e011dabc>] acpi_processor_idle+0x11d/0x256 [processor]
    [<e011d99f>] acpi_processor_idle+0x0/0x256 [processor]
    [<c01010e4>] cpu_idle+0x44/0x60
    [<c038c80e>] start_kernel+0x14e/0x170
    [<c038c380>] unknown_bootoption+0x0/0x1f0
    handlers:
    [<e0142f80>] (usb_hcd_irq+0x0/0x90 [usbcore])
    [<e037a900>] (yenta_interrupt+0x0/0x40 [yenta_socket])
    [<e037a900>] (yenta_interrupt+0x0/0x40 [yenta_socket])
    Disabling IRQ #18

Doesn't appear to cause any problems though.

    Cheers
    Scott

      Hi Scott,

My Apologies for not responding sooner. As you can see, you are the first person to actually post here, and I had stopped checking this forum on a daily basis.

      1. I can certainly make your requested changes to the naming of the file.

      2. Your error is certainly not one I've seen in my time porting (or using) the iBurst drivers.

I'll run it past the other developers, and see what they think.

Thanks again for your input - and keep an eye on the project here, I believe there has been further work recently.

      Cheers!
      Nik.

      Hi Nik

      Thanks for your response.

I thought it best to start using this forum rather than posting on whirlpool as that thread is getting a bit too long and postings cover a range of topics.

Thanks for changing the name of the file.

As I mentioned in my first post that error does not cause any problems. i.e. the card still works as normal.  I'm currently using 2.6.11, but I also tried it with 2.6.10 and got the same message.

I have another question too, but I'll start another thread for that one.

      Cheers
      Scott

      Hi Scott,

I had expected a new version to have been reeased before now. It's been a month, so I'll repackage the current release to incorporate the filename change for you.

      Sorry for the wait.

So far, I've not had much luck in analysing/tracking your error message either, I'm sorry.

      Cheers!
      Nik.

      Hi Peacemakr,

I presume you are trying to get the UTD working using USB? If not, then you need to be aware that no drivers are needed to make the UTD work using an ethernet port - just plug it in, and it works.

If your errors are with making the driver work with USB, could you please post a bit more detail of which bits of the process are working (compile, driver load, etc) and which parts aren't. Please also include errors messages from the log file.

      Cheers!
      Nik
