hello,
i've been using the iburst driver since 2.6.22-14.
i recently download ibdriver 1.3.3 and compiled/used it on 2.6.24-19 (the version i'm using to report this bug).
The same version (1.3.3) compiles on 2.6.24-20, but as soon as i connect the usb device, i get a kernel panic.
Hi,
My apologies for not having read your report before. I must somehow have missed the original notification.
The 1.3.3 version of the driver had some changes to try to solve a problem some people were seeing on 2.6.20. The problem was specific to this kernel version, and so I'm inclined that the kernel was more the culprit than the ibdriver code.
Therefore, this modification was removed for ibdriver 1.3.4.
My first recommendation is for you to try ibdriver 1.3.2 or 1,3,4 and see if the kernel panic is still there. I will try to run up a 2.6.24-20 kernel to test, but this will take me some time to organise, and probably would not be completed until the and of January 2009.
Cheers!
Nik
I'm not sure what exactly was added and again removed, but this could possibly be related to the SIOCGIWNAME implementation as well, as the panic is also triggered as soon as it's plugged in, which indicates something at the loading/hal stage of the module.
