Hi all, I was wondering how feasible is to use iaxclient library has instant messaging transport layer :)? I'm developing a sort of IAX2 softphone for a call center (for social survey no telemarketing is involved here:) and my employer want to have a way to "chat" with an interviewer (1-to-1) while he/she is calling a potential respondent mainly to give advices / suggestions. What I've in mind is something like this: - Interviewer (I) place a call to a Respondent (R) - R accept to be interviewed - My Employer (E) while monitoring (through chanspy) communication between I and R, from his remote office, want to say something to I about his way of conducting an interview. - E place a "text-only" call to I and start "chatting" with I using IAX2 capabilities to send text through a call "channel". So in that situation we have 3 "active" links involving I,R and E: I is calling R (a), E is monitoring the call between I and R using chanspy (b) and a "text-only" call between I and E (c). Is this something I can achieve using iaxclient library? My main concern is related to what I call text-only call. Is it possible in iaxclient to have 2 active call at the some time? thank you Andrea |

Hi All, I'm desperately seeking some help. I have a C# wrapper for IAXClient which was working fine with the old version (1.0 I guess). I needed the functionality of attended transfer, so I switched to version 2. I have noticed and made a few changes: the registration event number changed to 8, iaxc_initialize dropped the first audiotype parameter, and added vformat to the iaxc_ev_call_state structure. With all these changes the application starts, registers, all looking good. The first thing you notice that something has gone wrong is when you click on the dial pad, the tone doesn't play. If you click fast enough for the samples to overlap, you can hear something. Then I make a call while monitoring the input and output levels. Input level already displaying input properly, but when the call is answered, no one hears anything, output level is blank. Then if I put the call on hold with music, the called party hears music. If a second later I unhold it, the called party still doesn't hear anything, but I hear them, and input and output levels are displayed properly. Oddly enough, this half-fixed state only happens when putting the call on hold WITH music, nothing else helps. BTW I'm using a USB wired headset. My question is, can anyone tell me that apart from the changes above, what other changes have been made to iaxclient's basic functionality? Any new functions I need to call? Has the order I need to call the functions changed? Any idea about the above problem? Thanks in advance, any help would be greatly appretiated! Rob |

Copying iaxclient-devel list. Issues like this tend to be applicable to more than one person and there may be more than one person out there who can help, so let's use the list. You need to have libogg-dev installed in order to build against it. The "dev" or "devel" package is a common idiom in most linux distributions. These packages contain header files, static library archives (.a files), and other files needed or helpful for doing development with a library. Pete |

I've tried with testcall (the version with the iaxclient) and my microphone work... I try to use the same dll on my project under C# and try to execute the methodes in the same order... but still not working. I don't really understand how and why... I put a progress bar to see the input's level, and I can see that is ok. Notice that I use the IAXClientClass witch I modify it to have some news functions and adapt with the function's changes. Using an asterisk conferencing application like app_conference or MeetMe is a common way to achieve n-way calling. I would not recommend using iaxclient to receive two simultaneous calls -- that is a path wrought with peril. Before that I was under the 1.0 version, and everything work. I work under windows Xp pro & VS C#. I write the soft under C#. I try with 2.0.2 and 2.1 version and always the same problem. Does somebody have the same problem? |

Hi Alex, I'm the owner of the MacBook (and colleague too ;) ) that Andrea is talking about. I've created a .asoundrc file with the content you post, but audio (in our app using iaxclient lib) still to be intermittent depending on CPU usage. In any other app using alsa sound is clear. There's a way to check if the config file is read and load by alsa? Thank you! many thanks Alex, I will try as soon as I can and I'll let you know it it works... (OT: every time I encounter a problem like this, with such a solution, I wonder to myself if Linux will ever sort out the mess it has in the audio area ;) Andrea atuc wrote: > hallo andrea, > > i solved the problem on my mac book, maybe it works also on other intel > cards? > > > this is the config, it works here: > 1. create a .asoundrc file in the home dir with this > 2. select default as alsa device: > > best, > alex > > pcm.dmixer { > type dmix > ipc_key 1024 > ipc_perm 0666 # Andere Benutzer können ebenfalls dmix > gleichzeitig nutzen > slave.pcm "snd_card" > slave { > pcm "hw:0,0" > # buffer_size kann bei Problemen der jeweiligen Karte angepasst > werden. > period_time 0 > period_size 128 > buffer_size 4096 > # bei Störungen kann die Konvertierung auf die Rate 44100 > eingeschaltet werden. > rate 44100 > > } > bindings { > 0 0 > 1 1 > } > } > > pcm.dsnooper { > type dsnoop > ipc_key 2048 > ipc_perm 0666 > slave.pcm "snd_card" > slave > { > pcm "hw:0,0" > period_time 0 > period_size 128 > buffer_size 4096 > # bei Störungen kann die Konvertierung auf die Rate 44100 > eingeschaltet werden. > rate 44100 > } > bindings { > 0 0 > 1 1 > } > } > > pcm.duplex { > type asym > playback.pcm "dmixer" > capture.pcm "dsnooper" > } > > pcm.!default { > type plug > slave.pcm "duplex" > } > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge > Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes > Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world > http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ > _______________________________________________ > Iaxclient-devel mailing list > Iax...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/iaxclient-devel > |

hallo andrea, i solved the problem on my mac book, maybe it works also on other intel cards? this is the config, it works here: 1. create a .asoundrc file in the home dir with this 2. select default as alsa device: best, alex pcm.dmixer { type dmix ipc_key 1024 ipc_perm 0666 # Andere Benutzer können ebenfalls dmix gleichzeitig nutzen slave.pcm "snd_card" slave { pcm "hw:0,0" # buffer_size kann bei Problemen der jeweiligen Karte angepasst werden. period_time 0 period_size 128 buffer_size 4096 # bei Störungen kann die Konvertierung auf die Rate 44100 eingeschaltet werden. rate 44100 } bindings { 0 0 1 1 } } pcm.dsnooper { type dsnoop ipc_key 2048 ipc_perm 0666 slave.pcm "snd_card" slave { pcm "hw:0,0" period_time 0 period_size 128 buffer_size 4096 # bei Störungen kann die Konvertierung auf die Rate 44100 eingeschaltet werden. rate 44100 } bindings { 0 0 1 1 } } pcm.duplex { type asym playback.pcm "dmixer" capture.pcm "dsnooper" } pcm.!default { type plug slave.pcm "duplex" } |

hallo all, Andrea i have also a macbook but i think its not related to this, also on my dell x300 with an intel chipset i had the same problem. with bluetooth and my usb plantronics headset i have no problems, for the usb headset i have to use the asound rate conversion: pcm_slave.sl3 { pcm "hw:3,0" format S16_LE channels 2 rate 44100 } pcm.usb44k { type plug slave sl3hallo all, Andrea with bluetooth and my plantronics headset i have no problems, for the usb headset i have use the asound rate conversion: pcm_slave.sl3 { pcm "hw:3,0" format S16_LE channels 2 rate 44100 } pcm.usb44k { type plug slave sl3 } the sound is also cuted, when i use hw alsa devices, not only the dmix/dsnoop alsa plugin. Hi Alex, I don't know if it's good or bad news, anyhow for report's sake that's the story so far. The box, where we're we are experiencing the same problem as yours, is an intel macbook(*). Switching desktop manager from gmome to e17 makes a big difference in terms of audio quality. At first we thought that our problem was solved, cause the audio quality was a lot better, but unfortunately that was'nt completely true. We found a negative correlation between CPU frequency and sound quality. Setting CPU freq to 1GHZ and just using our voip soft phone produce an audio stream with a decent quality... increasing CPU freq higher than 1GHZ (e.g. due to "ondemand" scaling governor) and switching between application makes (due to user normal workflow) the sound quality more similar to the one described in Alex first post.... so it seems to me that some kind of scheduler strangeness is hurting us... but I'm just guessing :) (*) portaudio ver: pa_stable_v19_20071207.tar.gz iaxclient ver: upto date trunk speex ver: 1.2beta3 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) 00:07.0 Performance counters: Intel Corporation Unknown device 27a3 (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 02) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 02) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 02) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 02) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 02) 00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 02) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 02) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev e2) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 02) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) IDE Controller (rev 02) 00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801GBM/GHM (ICH7 Family) SATA IDE Controller (rev 02) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 02) 01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 22) 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. Hi, I think that I might be asking iaxclient to do more than it was designed for. Let's say that I have two users (say "Alice" and "Bob") configured on an Asterisk server, and that I want to register to receive calls directed to either of them. When a call is received, I need to be able to tell whether the call is intended for Alice or Bob, and I can't see how to accomplish this. In other words, if I register Alice and Bob as follows... iaxc_register("Alice", "password758493721", "asterisk.mycompany.com"); iaxc_register("Bob", "password324719912", "asterisk.mycompany.com"); ... then, when my callback gets a 'struct_ev_call_state' to notify me that a call has been received, I don't know what to do: int state_event_callback(struct iaxc_ev_call_state_call) { if (call.state & IAXC_CALL_STATE_RINGING) { /* OK, I'm receiving a call, but is it for Bob or Alice? How can I tell? */ } } Can iaxclient support this use-case, or do I have to do some lower-level IAX hacking? Thanks, Josh |

hallo, i have no idea anymore how to solve this, i tried everything but the sound of my intel card is always cut into smale pieces of sound when using the testcall application, i have added this line iaxc_audio_devices_set(8,8,8); to selct my default alsa device from asoundrc i have no problems with skype to play through the default dmix/dsnoop plugin, also the /dev/dsp is working, also the portaudio app audacity is working well with mono 8bit/8khz samples through the default device. anybody else out here who has experences with alsa dmix/dsnoop plugin and iaxclient? thanks for hints, best, alex my hardware: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) snd_hda_intel the .asoundrc: # Das dmix-Plugin wird definiert. pcm.dmixer { type dmix ipc_key 1024 ipc_perm 0666 # Andere Benutzer können ebenfalls dmix gleichzeitig nutzen slave.pcm "snd_card" slave { pcm "hw:0,0" # buffer_size kann bei Problemen der jeweiligen Karte angepasst werden. period_time 0 period_size 1024 buffer_size 4096 rate 44100 # einige Soundkarten benötigen das exakte Datenformat (zB ice1712) # format S32_LE } bindings { 0 0 1 1 } } # Das dsnoop-Plugin, welches es erlaubt, mehrere Programme gleichzeitig aufnehmen zu lassen. pcm.dsnooper { type dsnoop ipc_key 2048 ipc_perm 0666 slave.pcm "snd_card" slave { pcm "hw:0,0" period_time 0 period_size 1024 buffer_size 4096 rate 44100 # format S32_LE } bindings { 0 0 1 1 } } # Dies definiert unser Fullduplex-Plugin als Standard für alle ALSA-Programme. pcm.duplex { type asym playback.pcm "dmixer" capture.pcm "dsnooper" } pcm.!default { type plug slave.pcm "duplex" } |
