I am releasing the final version(1.0) of HyperNoids.
Of course, it has more changes than I can list here, and a Windows port.
Grab it from the files section:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/hypernoids/files/
Yes, it's a complete game that is fun to play.
The official release of version 0.2.8 is out!
Two new bosses, better enemy aiming, and more.
This version actually has the longest list of changes yet.

I've finally got around to porting a version of HyperNoids to windows!
You can download version 0.2.7 for windows from the project file manager.
A little disclaimer, the windows version is barely tested, and probably a little unstable.
If you have linux, the linux version would suit you better.
(Or, you could switch to linux because windows isn't as good)
It's been awhile in coming, but I'm finally releasing HyperNoids 0.2.7!
The most prominent feature, is the addition of the first boss.
Several other tweaks have been made, and there is better music.

Recently this project released version 0.2.6.
It's a version jump I know, but this version surpasses the goals I have for v0.3 even.
There is a new enemy, hiscore, and it now uses a config file.
The most important change however, is that the enemies appear in 4 waves.
But the final wave continues indefinately.

Today version 0.2.4 is released.
There is a handful of changes, but to list a few:
Sound effects added;
Alpha blending used for sprites;
New enemy added;
And more;
We are approaching a complete game.

I have finished and released version 0.2.3
This version has had more changes and updates than any others.
The sprat fighter is added, and the enemies will attack you at better intervals.
You can get points by blowing enemies up, and you yourself now have shields.
There are more changes than I care to list.
This version is the first to be fun and playable.

I finally had time to setup a new website.
It's still kinda bare, but it's got more coming.
Check it out here: http://sites.google.com/site/hyperspacehub/home/hypernoids
I'm releasing HyperNoids 0.2.2 as unstable.
It's got a lot of bugs, and it doesn't meet the planned requirements,
but some release is better than none.
You should only get this if you want to play with the source code, as there is very little difference in game-play.
The release of 0.2.2 is already late.
I have been unable to devote enough time to this project to keep it
going very fast. I just don't have enough time right now.
I won't be making regular releases and I probably won't meet my
previously planned release dates either.
Even though I am to busy to give this project full attention, I will still be working on it some.
Sorry if I'm letting anybody down by not meeting these release dates.... read more
After an irregularly long development period, HyperNoids 0.2.1 is out.
The long period was only because the "admin/site manager/lead programmer/all around busy person" was busy during development.
But, at any rate 0.2.1 is now out for download.
0.2.1 mainly adds the skeleton for a "sprat fighter" to the engine.
It can be spawned and just sit there.
The "ex" model has also had an upgrade of it's firing logic.... read more
HyperNoids 0.2 is out today.
It mainly gives the enemy ability to shoot straight down,
but also fixes bugs and has a better README file.

I finally pinpointed and fixed the bug where ships explode prematurely.
I released version 0.1.9.5 which fixes that problem.
Download: https://sourceforge.net/projects/hypernoids/files/hypernoids-0.1.9.5_pre.zip/download
After extensive testing, I discovered the the bug in v0.18 still exists in v0.19.
v0.19 only makes the ships explode closer to the bottom and more must be destroyed before the bug appears.
No changes are going to be made to v0.19, even though the "BUGS" file is incorrect in assuming the bug is fixed.
I had originally planned the release the last pre-alpha version(0.29) on December 8th, 2009.
However the bug in version 0.18 took much longer to fix than expected, setting the project back somewhat.
There are currently no new release plans, but I will keep everyone updated.
Now about Windows support.
I originally had planned to port the game to Windows starting with version 0.29.
However, I have decided that if I am going to port to Windows I'll port
only major releases.
Today I have released the next pre-alpha version, 0.19.
This version fixes the bug in the last version that caused pre-mature explosion of enemy ships.
And simple collision work with the player is added.

I am releasing HyperNoids 0.18
This version is almost playable to some extent,
the enemy ships out of the top of the screen,
and can be shot and destroyed.

We are releasing HyperNoids 0.17 pre-Alpha.
Now the enemy spaceships actually explode when you shoot them! ; )
I also changed the directory tree, and changed the scrolling/moving increments.

HyperNoids v0.16 is being released, and adds a lot to the enemy object.
It's a small change in appearance, but the internals have been updated
more than it might appear.
It now has the ability to handle multiple enemies,
which is very important.

We have finally added a simple web site for the HyperNoids project.
Currently, the web site offers little more than the project page, and is simple in appearance.
But, soon we hope to put up a better web site and release schedule.
web site URL: http://hypernoids.sourceforge.net/
The new version of HyperNoids add's key elements to the video game.
Including:
Shooting routines
Enemy sprites
Simple enemy objects
It's still pre-alpha, so it's still not much.
Also, source or binaries are not yet available for platforms other than Linux.

We have released the pre-alpha version of HyperNoids.
It is a pre-alpha release, so don't expect an awesome video game just
yet. ; )
