Hi Elliott, What do you mean by your posting? An older version of sigar has posted on sourceforge? Or is a new sigar version coming (greater than version 1.6.3?). So far I haven't seen an older or newer version of sigar on sourceforge. Regards, Hyperguy |

Hello, I ran into the error below on a macbook pro using JDK 1.6 64 bit Mac OS X 10.6.4. java version "1.6.0_20" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_20-b02-279-10M3065) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 16.3-b01-279, mixed mode) I do have "libsigar-universal64-macosx.dylib" in classpath (along with 32 bit one and other os'es) Any suggestion of a workaround? while I am running the monitor developed using Sigar to monitor CPU usage of some certain process, i found some time, the CPU usage was more than 100%. I use ProcCpu.getPercent() to get the CPU usage of the process. The CPU is a sparc of SUN with 32 logic cores. |

For the .dll file, where should it be? (class_path ? Or just the same folder with the sigar.jar?) I have make a eclipse project and just place it on the same folder of the sigar.jar, and it runs well. But I'm not sure where the dll should be when I do an actual depolyment. Thanks for any reply~ |

Doug, could you post your ptql code as an example for getting the pid? This might help me with the problem that I'm having. The issues that might be a problem for me are: 1) a short-lived process that might have ended before looking for a pid. 2) a process that takes a long time to startup and checking for the pid too early might miss getting the pid. Hi, We are having problems getting process info from a short-lived process. In java, if you use ProcessBuilder to create and start the chmod command: chmod +x <some file>, then checking for the process using sigar doesn't seem to work for us. I am using ProcessQuery and PTLQ to lookup the process. If I wrap the invocation of chmod into a shell script and then lookup the process for the shell script, our code seems to detect that. On the mac, the chmod command takes 0.003s, but the wrapper shell script takes 0.063s. So the current thinking is that the process being so short-lived may be the problem. However, maybe the query is the problem? Or something else? I'm wondering if there is either a sigar limitation in detecting a short-lived process, or perhaps, there is another less obvious sigar technique to monitor a short-lived process like chmod? Using our windows-only non-sigar solution to monitor a process, we can detect the short-lived processes; however, we would like a cross-platform solution using just sigar, if that is possible. The activemq example you used won't work since I'll never be able to use the Args.*.sw selector. |
