I answered my own question... The reason it isn't automatically bringing up the page in the browser is because I'm doing two transformations for each page so the user has a choice as to which version of the site they preview. The reason it was working in root was because I had left out the second transformation for those pages. Thanks Carl Carl Barrow wrote: > Hi Alex > > I'm having problems with the preview function still. whilst > everything is set up fine and clicking preview copies the file to the > correct place, it doesn't always open up that page in the browser. Hi Alex I'm having problems with the preview function still. whilst everything is set up fine and clicking preview copies the file to the correct place, it doesn't always open up that page in the browser. I seems to work for all files in root (except the index) but previewing anything nested further down in the site just leaves the report screen visible. Any ideas how I can fix this? Thanks Carl -- ************************************ Carl Barrow Web Developer e-Services The University of Hull Cottingham Road Hull HU6 7RX Ext. 6838 ************************************ |

Another method is to use <xsl:comment> as in: <script language="JavaScript"> <xsl:comment> if (r && (!chain || r.chain==chain) && r.msg==msg) </xsl:comment> </script> Note the I escape & and <> in the javascript but it gets converted on output. This is important in uP2.4.2 because the new serializer causes problems otherwise. I also found that you shouldn't use " in the javascript because it will be converted to "e; on output. Using only single quotes solves that problem. >>From popserve Mon Mar 7 08:38:46 2005 >Cc: "'Hypercontent-users'" <hyp...@li...> >From: Adam Carl <ac...@co...> >Subject: Re: [Hypercontent-users] javascript output >To: Carl Barrow <C.P...@hu...> >X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.619.2) >X-No-Spam-Score: Local >X-Scanned-By: MIMEDefang 2.48 on 128.59.29.8 >X-Spam-Score: 0.5 (/) >X-Spam-Report: Spam Filtering performed by sourceforge.net. > See http://spamassassin.org/tag/ for more details. > Report problems to http://sf.net/tracker/?func=add&group_id=1&atid=200001 > 0.5 FROM_ENDS_IN_NUMS From: ends in numbers >Sender: hyp...@li... >X-BeenThere: hyp...@li... >X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.9-sf.net >List-Unsubscribe: <https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/hypercontent-users>, > <mailto:hyp...@li...?subject=unsubscribe> >List-Id: JA-SIG - HyperContent Users discussion list <hypercontent-users.lists.sourceforge.net> >List-Post: <mailto:hyp...@li...> >List-Help: <mailto:hyp...@li...?subject=help> >List-Subscribe: <https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/hypercontent-users>, > <mailto:hyp...@li...?subject=subscribe> >List-Archive: <http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum=hypercontent-users> >Date: Mon, 7 Mar 2005 09:42:44 -0500 >X-PMX-Version: 4.7.0.111621, Antispam-Engine: 2.0.0.0, Antispam-Data: 2005.3.7.5 >X-Perlmx-Spam: Gauge=IIIIIII, Probability=7%, Report='__C230066_P5 0, __CT 0, __CTE 0, __CT_TEXT_PLAIN 0, __HAS_MSGID 0, __HAS_X_MAILER 0, __MIME_VERSION 0, __SANE_MSGID 0' > >Carl, > >Use a text element and disable output escaping > >See example below: > ><xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes"> >function clickLink1(){ > > top.location = group1links[group1Size] > >} > >function clickLink2(){ > > top.location = group2links[group2Size] >} > ></xsl:text> > >Adam > >On Mar 7, 2005, at 8:26 AM, Carl Barrow wrote: > >>Hi Alex >> >>I have had to incorporate a javascript menu into one of my templates because Marketing have used it on the University Site. Carl, Use a text element and disable output escaping See example below: <xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes"> function clickLink1(){ top.location = group1links[group1Size] } function clickLink2(){ top.location = group2links[group2Size] } </xsl:text> Adam On Mar 7, 2005, at 8:26 AM, Carl Barrow wrote: > Hi Alex > > I have had to incorporate a javascript menu into one of my templates > because Marketing have used it on the University Site. Hi Alex I have had to incorporate a javascript menu into one of my templates because Marketing have used it on the University Site. I don't have a problem adding it to the template, the page builds without problem. However, some of the code is being escaped on output : if (r && (!chain || r.chain==chain) && r.msg==msg) becomes if (r && (!chain || r.chain==chain) && r.msg==msg) The output method is set to html in my template and I've used CDATA tags round all javascript. Do you have any idea how I might overcome this? Hi Carl, Glad to hear things are running smoothly. Our systems group = runs a=20 dedicated file server which we mount to our application servers; we=20 currently have our HyperContent repositories mounted on a number of=20 different machines. I actually recommend this approach - it is fast=20 and stable, and allows you to easily grow your server pool. We're=20 actually not using the local disks on our servers for anything except=20 logs at the moment - the web application, the repositories, and tomcat=20= all live on the network storage device. I believe the file server is=20 from NetApp: http://www.netapp.com/solutions/storage_consolidation.html -Alex On Mar 2, 2005, at 6:16 AM, Carl Barrow wrote: > Hi Alex > > Things going very well here at Hull with HyperContent I have got about=20= > 500 pages live in it at the moment. > > I assume this won=92t be possible but I thought it best to confirm.=20 > Could you have your repository on a different server to that running=20= > HyperContent and uPortal? > > Thanks > > Carl > > --=20 > ************************************ > > Carl Barrow > Web Developer > e-Services > The University of Hull > Cottingham Road > Hull > HU6 7RX > Ext. 6838 > ************************************ > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide > Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real=20 > users. > Discover which products truly live up to the hype. Alex/Adam Now that we have a growing numbers sites using HyperContent at Hull I have been working on some documentation for users. I was wondering if you had any generic documentation available to your users at Columbia that you might be willing to share. Hi Alex Things going very well here at Hull with HyperContent I have got about 500 pages live in it at the moment. I assume this won’t be possible but I thought it best to confirm. Could you have your repository on a different server to that running HyperContent and uPortal? Hi, Authentication implementations in HyperContent 2 are plugged in as JAAS LoginModules. These are configured in the jaas.properties file. LoginModules can get access to parameters such as username, password, or CAS ticket by using callbacks. HyperContent currently supports three Callbacks (all part of the standard JDK): NameCallback: The value of the "prompt" should be set to the name of the desired request parameter (e.g. "user"). The value of the parameter will be set using the setName method on the NameCallback TextCallback: same as name callback, except the value is set using the setText() method of the TextCallback. You can use this to access username, password, or ticket as plain text PasswordCallback Does not passthrough the raw password, but rather provides an SHA-1 hash of the password. This hash is converted to a char[] and set using the setPassword method of the callback. The default implementation is org.hypercontent.security.UserFileLoginModule, which compares the password hash to a hash stored in the user xml file. I have an implementation as well to support Columbia's WIND, a CAS-like central authentication service. It should be pretty easy to customize; if you are authenticating against LDAP, you can use the default login screen. You can also customize the login and logout pipelines with redirects to integrate with an external authentication service like CAS. There may be some existing implementations worth looking at; a search on LDAPLoginModule does yield some hits. These may or may not work without modification. If you would like to take the lead on coming up with a solution, I would be happy to include an LDAPLoginModule in the distribution. Hi Leonard, There are no fancy editors, preview, build or publish in the Project Definitions project - all it does is store the XML configuration files for all the other projects. This will be changing in version 2; the bootstrap project will contain all the xsl and velocity templates, localization files, pipeline and workflow definitions to run the basic system, allowing easy customization and addition of authoring and management screens. To get to some real content, you'll want to check out the sample project, which is a complete copy of the HyperContent web site showcasing most if not all the features v1.4 has to offer. The HyperContent web site should appear in your project listing if you are logged in as a Portal Admin and have the project filesystems properly configured. If it does not appear, go into the Project Definitions project and open the projects folder, and look for a file called "hypercontent-site.xml". If it is not there, there may have been a problem with the installation, which you may want to attempt to re-run. If it is there, you should open it for editing (or download it and use a desktop text or xml editor). It has four filesystems defined: repository, preview, build, and publish, which you should configure with absolute paths to the corresponding directories on your system (in the installation, the paths are relative, and configured for uPortal 2.3.2 quickstart). You can set up FTP or SFTP publishing as described in the manual, if you want to check it out. There is a different SFTP library in CVS now, as there were some problems with the package used in 1.4 under heavy load, but it should be fine for evaluation. I've been meaning to do a 1.4.1 release with the new SFTP and a few fixes to the navigation editor, but you don't have to wait for me, you can grab it from the hypercontent module in CVS - it mirrors the distribution, just without compiled code, and is stable. Environment: Mac OS X Tomcat 5.0.27 uPortal 2.4.2 HyperContent 1.4 I'm just getting started and pretty much just exploring the out-of-the-box system, and am basically wondering what I need to do to get a complete working system to try out. I have the repository configured, so that when I login to uPortal and create the Content Manager channel, I can see the "HyperContent Projects Definitions". When I click into that, the top nav has Search | Browse | Admin. I can click on the New button for a project and create one. When I clink on the new project, I still have the top nav above. Below that is the title of my project. Below that is a nav that has only Permissions. Below, the Description. Below, a nav that has Create | Copy/Move | Admin | Revisions, and below that, the Project New button. It looks like I'm missing a lot of functionality, as compared to the screenshots in the HyperContent 1.4 manual. I don't have any Build or Publish control. I don't see a way to create content (only projects), get to the WYSIWYG editor, etc. I didn't do much with the build.properties and Projects.xml. The latter only has the <repository> defined. Am I supposed to set up <preview>, <build> and <publish> as in the manual section on Developing Sites describes? Or, should those other nav choices already be there? I'm only using the build function, since 1 - most of the users here don't require a test site and want the content to go live right away, and 2 - I'm having a few problems with the Publish function, it doesn't seems to want to publish and just says 'No Updated Files' every time I try and do so (any Ideas there?). I need to have a look at that. Would using 'publish' and not just 'build' cause problems for my link solution? When I build a site I don't have a uPortal directory, the xsl just takes that out of any link that it has been perpended to. It works fine and allows users just to key in a filename when they want to link to a file in the same directory. The only problem is that if they look at the link again in the editor they see /uPortal/ in front of the filename (not ideal), but some of the users (only a minority) we have using the old system can't really grasp the idea of making a link never mind adding a path to the file so I need to keep things simple. However, the first real user I have asked to give HyperContent a go got on with it very well and his site is ready to go live in the next few days. Hi Leonard, There is at least one outstanding issue I know of running under uPortal 2.4.2; some javascript links may not work in IE because uPortal appends anchors to them. Otherwise your environment is just fine - the "Unrecognized Person" greeting is the standard uPortal greeting if it was not able to retrieve the user's name from the PersonDirectory, which can be configured to pull from LDAP. If you run into other problems, check the log for stack traces, as these can help quickly identify the problem. Good luck! Hi Alex My xsl is probably the same as you are using there : <xsl:template match="a" mode="html"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:attribute name="href"> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="starts-with(@href,'/')"> <xsl:value-of select="concat($baseurl,@href)" /> </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <xsl:value-of select="@href" /> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates select="@*[not(name()='href')]" mode="html"/> <xsl:apply-templates select="node()" mode="html"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> Everything works fine the first time I add the link e.g. 'file.html' , I save and build and the link works without problem. If I edit the page again then save and build the /uPortal/ is put in . Is this just a WYSIWYG editor problem which could be overcome by using something other than HTML Area ? Or is there any chance of a backwards compatible patch that might fix the problem? Failing that, how are you getting around it with your users there? I know some of my users here won't cope with adding a directory before the filename. Hi Carl, Unfortunately, the only sure fire way for internal links to work in the WYSIWYG in 1.4, is to use the full repository path of the file (e.g. "/dir/file.html") for the href, and then prepend the base-url in the XSL template. This is how the example site is set up . . . this has to do with some limitations of the rich content editing functionality of the browsers, which presents problems when editing content that is masked behind the portal. I think relative links will work in 2.0, but I'll double check. Let me know if you need the link and image XSL templates that we use - they should be in the HyperContent site common xsl file. Hi Alex I have discovered a problem with links just before going live with the first two sites here at Hull. If I create a link in a page ie. to 'file.html' and save the page. When editing that page and changing the link I notice that /uportal/ has been placed before the filename. I can't find any settings that might be causing it. Is there anything you can suggest ? The file systems is setup correctly, I've tried changing that to the local server rather the build server but I still get the same error. I had the same problem too. The file system-def file in project definitions had a mapping to the folder tomcat_5-0-18 instead of tomcat_5-0-28. Check it out to see you have the right folders mapped.
