[Hydrogen-devel] Drumkit Licenses

I had never gave much attention to drumkit licensing, but recently I have notices that some of drumkits were licensed on GPL terms.
 
GPL was created for software distribution, so I'd like to ask what are implication of applying it to sound libraries.
 
1. What is "source code"? In case of sound recordings it's simple - thay might be considered source form itself, but what about synthesized sounds? To make matters more complicated:
 
2. Are songs created using sound samples considered "work based on the Program"? Does it mean that the song should also be licensed under GPL? If so, does how does point 1 apply?
 
On sidenote, none of drumkits licensed under GPL specify license version. This applies to some CC-licensed kits too.
