LEAP when cursor not visible?

The documentation seems to assume (I can't find an explicit
statement) that a LEAP always originates from the cursor;
however, I have a question. What if the cursor isn't visible
due to scrolling?
What if, in fact, the user has scrolled extensively in order to
visually find some detail he remembered not well enough to
LEAP to? Now he can LEAP, but will he first have to leap
through all the text between where the cursor is and where
his display is?
Suggestion for pondering:
Would it be wise to start the LEAP at the edge of the
display area closest to the cursor if the cursor isn't visible?

Doesn't the view just scroll down to show the cursor? - the
documentation says that cursour movement will.
