I use HTTP Mail Plugin with Mail and Entourage to check my Hotmail accounts. I installed firewall software and both connections went south.
I can check Hotmail via the web, and POP/IMAP accounts with Mail and Entourage, but Hotmail in these two apps has died.
You might be able to help me figure out how to fix this, if you could tell me which ports your plugin uses and what else could be preventing this connection.

The plugin uses port 80 to connect to the hotmail servers. After that it follows a lot of redirections to finally get to your hotmail folders. It could be that one of these redrections is including a different port. Other than that I can't think of any reason it would be using any other port. You might want to enable outgoing connections on high ports (greater than 1024)
