To delete hotmail messages from Mail and from Hotmail, I find I need to do the following:
- Select 'Move delete messages to separate folder' in the mailbox options
- Delete the download hotmail messages
- Select 'Mailbox' - 'Erase Deleted Messages'
Is this the only way to do this? I'd prefer to just delete a message and have it delete from hotmail too. Perhaps I am doing something wrong?

That is the only way to do it. If you leave the message in the trash in Mail after a while (usually 7 days) it will automatically be deleted for you.

The method for deleting hotmail messages actually isn't working for me. I'm thinking it has something to do with some rules.
I have a rule that moves hotmail messages with Spamcop... in its subject to a folder which is "on my mac" where I can follow up later. After I deal with those messages I delete them they will always come back.
Is there an option to delete off of the hotmail server once the messages are downloaded?
