#1 settine a root drive causes errors

setting the file serers root directory to a drives root
directory e.g. c:\ causes errors, this is due to the
fact that the root property should not have a trailing
slash setting the file server to / on linux is NOT
recommended.

this will be fixed in the next version, but trailiing
slashes are not supported yet.
