PDF not attached ... Greetings, I'm trying to use htop to monitor CPU usage of various processes, but I'm having trouble understanding what exactly the CPU% column is telling me. I'm running on a 4 CPU Redhat EL4 (2.6) machine. I've attached a PDF of the screen in question, but it might not make it through the mailer. The top of the display shows the 4 CPUs with percentages of 48.4%, 44.4%, 40.0%, and 40.3%. If I total up the CPU% column, I get 687.2%. The first three processes show 87.7%, 84.8%, and 80.3%. Can someone please explain what the CPU% column is telling me here? I'm totally confused. Also, I've found that switching from machine to machine can cause a problem with the number of CPUs displayed at the top. htop remembers the number of CPUs from the last time it was run. I had to alias htop to "/bin/rm $HOME/.htoprc; htop". Thanks in advance for any help. Bob Jackson bo...@an... |
