It seems that htoolkit requires gnome2 and gtk2 to work properly (I thought gtk2/gnome1 as in debian 3.0 could suffice). Perhaps this has to be clarified in the README or INSTALL files for ports. Is there anyone who has suggestions for debian woody? Vincenzo |

Hi all. I can't compile port because: make: *** No rule to make target `Port/Timer.hs', needed by `build/Port/Timer.o'. Stop. Any ideas? Thanks for your work, please cc to me since I am not subscribed to the list. Vincenzo |

I will apply the patch to the actual HToolkit sources. Hi Jens, Port is designed to be the lowest core-functionality library. It is just thin Haskell veneer on top of the C libraries. HToolkit and GIO are built upon that. HToolkit is the original library that goes with Port and is maintained and designed by Krasimir, and he can tell you more about its future. GIO is my little project and tries to build a Yahu (TkGofer) like interface on top of Port. Even though GIO is fairly complete now, I do not have direct plans to maintain it -- at the moment it is more of an experiment for me (I am trying to do the same thing with wxWindows instead of Port). -- Daan. > Jens > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.NET email is sponsored by: > SourceForge Enterprise Edition + IBM + LinuxWorld = Something 2 See! > http://www.vasoftware.com > _______________________________________________ > htoolkit-users mailing list > hto...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/htoolkit-users > > |

Yes, I meant using code from gtk2hs for the gtk part of port. Since there seem to be 3 pieces (port, HToolkit and gio), I am not so clear on who is taking care of which, and the design differences between HToolkit and gio? Jens |

Hi! There were some small problems building Database.PostgreSQL on my FreeBSD box. 1. ZPBITOID has been renamed to BITOID in newer versions of PostgreSQL (looking at the cvs logs, it has been changed in the middle of 2001) 2. There is a problem with the dependencies, Database/PostgreSQL/ is built before Graphics/Data/ but needs Geometry.hi. 3. postgres.h is installed in /usr/local/include/postgresql/server/, but pg_config --includedir returns /usr/local, pg_config --includedir-server returns the right directory. (the same on debian with /usr/include/postgresql and /usr/include/postgresql/server with the postgres.h header) Regards, Benedikt |

autoconf of HToolkit failed on my debian/unstable system I read the already closed bug and noticed that the HToolkit developers are using version 2.53 of autoconf, but I have 2.57 I added the line AC_PREREQ(2.53) just under thet AC_INIT line in configure.in, and then autoconf and configure went smoothly. I configured with --enable-postgres only, but "make" wanted something from the GUI part of the toolkit, so I ran "make -k" and then tried "make" again. At that point the PostgreSQL binding built successfully. It must be a dependency problem in the Makefile, but I haven't looked yet to see what it is. I've been able to query a database and get data out of it. GHCi doesn't handle errors very happily, I usually get: phase `E' failed (exitcode = Process ghci segmentation fault or phase `C' failed (exitcode = Process ghci segmentation fault PS. thanks to steele on #haskell for finding/fixing most of these bugs before I did. -- Shae Matijs Erisson - 2 days older than RFC0226 #haskell on irc.freenode.net - We Put the Funk in Funktion |

Hi Peter, Thanks for trying out the HToolkit. We are actively working on the libraries and=20 I think that you just happened to pick an inconsistent snapshot. If you try to re-check out GIO, I am sure it will work :-) The HToolkit is more or less in transition of using Port, but Krasimir knows more about that. All the best, Daan. btw. You can browse online haddock docs from the homepage: http://htoolkit.sourceforge.net |

The gtk2hs is a binding to GTK+ and requires GTK+ libraries under both Windows and Linux, whereas the HToolkit uses Win32 API under Windows and GTK under Linux. Hi, Since I have been involved with gtk+hs and gtk2hs, I thought I would take a look at htoolkit. port built without much trouble with ghc-5.04.2 on my Linux box. Next I tried HToolkit and gio. Here's how far I got. 1) for HToolkit I did: % ./configure --enable-gui % make depend /usr/bin/ghc -M Graphics/UI/HGUI/OS/Window.hs Graphics/Rendering/HGL/Font.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/BasicClasses.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/BasicTypes.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/Button.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/CheckBox.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/Edit.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/Event.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/EventTypes.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/FileSelectors.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/Form.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/GraphViz.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/ListBox.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/Menu.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/PopUp.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/RadioBox.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/Text.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/OS/Types.hs Graphics/UI/HGUI/OS/Util.hs Graphics/Rendering/HGL.hs Graphics/Rendering/HGL/BasicClasses.hs Graphics/Rendering/HGL/BasicTypes.hs Graphics/Rendering/HGL/Bitmap.hs Graphics/Rendering/HGL/DrawMonad.hs Graphics/Rendering/HGL/Drawing.hs Graphics/Data/Geometry.hs Graphics/Rendering/HGL/BasicTypes.hs: can't locate import `Graphics.Rendering.HGL.Bitmap' (SOURCE import) make: *** [depend] Error 1 For fun I commented out "import Graphics.Rendering.HGL.Bitmap" in BasicTypes.hs, and then "make depend" succeeded.
