Further to Rbi, For debugging, it's nice to write a utility class to
println the AsXml of the pages because without that it's pain in the neck
to travale in the Dom using the variable window of the IDE. I usually take
at this point the opportunity to set The correct DOcType I want and store
the different pages (for example AfterLoggin.html,  AfetrClickBtnValid.html
etc... in a folder where I put also all the ressource needed (particulaly
the images  which are by default not loaded)
When I said Firebuf is your friend , The most difficult thing using
Htmlunit is not Htmlunit but to understand the structure of the "site" we
are testing or scrapping

As far as i know, the concept of 'dialog box' is not available in html.
Can you please make clear, what kind of 'dialog box' you are talking about.

There are serveral options:
* the javascript confirm() command (res=window.confirm(question);)
* javascript window.open() that opens a different browser window (usually a small one)
* by using some kind of js library that does some js/css/iframe magic to simulate a (modal) dialog (like this: 
http://livedemo.exadel.com/richfaces-demo/richfaces/modalPanel.jsf#)

Additionally it is a good idea, to dump the current page (asXml) after each step into a separate file, to have a visual id of the current situation.

i'm still confused from all the stuff you wrote.
If you really like to geht some help you have to be as precise as possible.

You have some kind of web application that is available by an HTTPS URL - correct?
Ist this app public available on the internet?

If you click on a button, the application opens another window (in your words a popup window) - correct?
What kind of window? Is it a new tab in the browser or a dedicated browser window or a dialog window or an alert window?
You have to figure out that, because the handling of this kind of windows is different.

And please post your sample code.

Btw:

This never opens a window it only waits for some javascript jobs to finish, so i guess, the window is opend from javascript. This might imply, that your code has to switch to the newly opend window.

Even i could see the pop up window.

One more thing i would like to add is

pop up window consits of java script and html code.

When i click on the pop up window and print the result, it is showing me the
parent window plus child window java script only.

To load the pop up window i am using the following command

Even i am using this *webClient.getOptions().setUseInsecureSSL(true);*

The last one is saying the most important: there are differents approach,
Firebug is your friend, use the network tab to see which is happening to
display these pop up. If you have luck all the information could already be
in the original page. But you have also a link if the problem is security
related..
With my modest experience using HtmlUnit, we need everytime to accliamate
to the programming usage of the site we are digging into.

then after i have kept one more jar file htmlunit-2.15 then i could not get
the result of pop up window. My local application runs on http protocol.

When calling that page, HtmlUnit never completes because of the websocket connection to zopim.com. How can I force the page to finish after a set timeout or identify the web socket and close it. Here is the meat of my code:

Hi,
You need to know which elements are there, usually I use page.asXml(), or you can 'inspect element' in real browsers.
Once you know the element ID/xpath, then you can manipulate it. (htmlPage.getElementById() or .getByXPath()).

Hi Alain,

not really sure what you are like to do.

I guess you have a datatable with a pager in your web app.
The key idea of a pager is to display only a part of your result set. And that small viewport of the result set is the only stuff that was send out from the server. After switching the 
page a different part is send to the client. Or in short, the html table in yor page is always ony a small part of the whole dataset.

Please keep in mind, that HtmlUnit simulates your browser; HtmlUnit works on the same html/css/javascript as your browser does.
You can always open the page with your browser and use 'Show page source' to get an idea what data is availabe in your browser.

I would like to iterate over the total number of a table but when I'm 
using the methods to either get the rows collection or the rows number I 
get the one referring to the where the paging is . I need the total 
number to avoid playing with the pager to explore all the rows...

You see the normal log output that of course informs about is errors because we test erred situations also. You have to look for failing unit tests only.

Hi,

as first step use the latest version available (you can download the latest build at http://build.canoo.com/htmlunit/).
If the problem persists, you have to digg a bit deeper.
Us a proxy server (like Charles http://www.charlesproxy.com/) to inspect the communicatio between your browser and the server.
Then do the same for HtmlUnit (you have to configure the proxy as part of your webclient setup).
Usuall the difference in the requests will guide you to the source of the problem - if HtmlUnit behaves different than a browser open a bug report.

Hello,

im trying to save the captcha image from a site but after saving the image
im getting a different format than what is on the site - yes captcha will
change from each request but the image that i got is at a completely
diffrerent format..

example: when opened in a browser I see the 3-4 number format

now when i use html unit im getting this kind of format:
