Hello everybody ! I am trying to access to my flash card reader on a network combo printer (photosmart 2575) from Linux. What is the name of the tool to manage this device ? I can print with cups and scan from my browser. Are there tools to show the ink level, align heads or else ? Thanks -- Gerard |

I'm trying to setup printing in Kubuntu 5.04 with a psc-1315. Installed libusb, libusb-devel, hpijs and hpoj. When I browse to localhost:631, cups finds the printer and I can send a test page to the printer, but it never prints and anything else I try to do brings up a request for a username and password. The username is already set to "cupsys." It won't take any password and I can't do anything with it. The first time through, I was asked for a password and I invented one, but this has never worked and neither does the root PW or my user PW, nor any combination of usename/password. When I power the printer up, it prints a test page, but when I send a file to be printed with 'lpr,' it goes into the queue, but nothing is printed. I can't cancel jobs because it wants that password. I sure need help, bruce libusb_0.1.10a-4_i386.deb libusb-devel_0.1.10a-4_i386.deb hplip_0.8.7-4_i386.deb hpijs-2.0.1 hpoj-0.91-3ubuntu4_i386.deb |

Hello, I want to compile HPOJ for a mipsel router so I can use this router to share my HP Officejet G55 on my personal network. I have successfully cross compiled hpoj after some major problems at first (configure script seems to contain some major bugs, but I'll post on that at a later time). Now I executed ptal-init setup on this router and it didn't probe for USB devices because it wasn't compiled with USB-support. But I DID compile it with usb support. I first cross compiled libusb and then pointed the configure script to the right directory. I also used some other options like no SNMP support, no parallel port support, no sane support (I will compile with this at a later time) and no cups support. Also, is libusb required to be on the router to run the driver? Or is it only required for compiling? Should I compile with cups support (thus -with-cups-backend=/dir/to/cups/backend) to get usb support? Or is it a bug that ptal-init setup claims that there is no USB support even though there should be? And if I should compile with cups support, do I have to copy cups to the router or is cups only needed to compile and not to run the driver? Thanks a lot in advance, Pieter Agten |

The support is done by the new HPLIP (HP Linux Imaging and Printing) from http://hpinkjet.sf.net/ The HPOJ software and the HPOJ web site are obsolete. HPLIP is already part of Mandriva LE 2005 and is automatically used for HP printers and MF devices on USB. I have the 1510 here for testing and used it for the developemnt of the printing stuf of Mandriva 2006. So with 2006 it will work for sure. Hi everyone, Before buying an HP PSC 1510 multifunction device, I would first like to = check whether it will work under Linux (Mandriva LE 2005). I'm actually a little puzzled by what I've found. A recent reply to a post on this list says that all multi-function device= from HP are supported (except fax). This would normally imply that HP PS= C 1510 should work. However, the supported devices list (http://hpoj.sourceforge.net/suplist.= shtml) does not list all HP devices (but the liste is quite old, last upd= ate is from december 2003). I have also contacted HP support, which said that not a single HP device = made for home usage will work under Linux. So, I would be more than happy if someone at hpoj-devel mailing list coul= d tell me whether this printer/scanner will work for me, and if not, coul= d make recommendation for a cheap all-in-one for home use. Out of the blue, my printer (HP OfficeJet G85) stopped working. It was working fine last week, but today when I powered it up and sent some print jobs, the printer LCD showed Printing..., the printer printed a line or two, and then hung. The following was spewing from the log file: Oct 25 13:27:50 olgas kernel: drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: nonzero read/write bulk status received: -84 Oct 25 13:27:50 olgas kernel: drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: error -84 reading from printer Would you suspect my laptop, the cable, or the printer? I use CUPS and hpoj and Debian etch. -- Bill Wohler <wo...@ne...> http://www.newt.com/wohler/ GnuPG ID:610BD9AD Maintainer of comp.mail.mh FAQ and MH-E. Vote Libertarian! Hello, =20 I=B4m new to the hpoj Project, i didn=B4t know where to post, so=20 This is the reason why you get this mail. =20 Firstival I Setup the hpoj driver with a HP3330 ALL IN ONE Printer, It works fine, there are no problems. But this Printer has some = difficulties in its firmware to understand my PCL Code im tryin to print. Than I decided to change to a HP3380. With Raw mode in CUPS the Printer works fine. =20 Here my Problem, I=B4m trying to set up the HP 3380 ALL IN ONE Printer, Ptal-init setup recognizes the printer well, also cups gets access to the ptal-device and the printer also prints when using cups. =20 But if I send more than 1 Job to CUPS I only get the first job printed, The second one still hangs in the queue but is not printed. =20 Anyone got an Idea? =20 Best Regards, =20 Timo Br=FCntjen =20 =20 |

I'm new to this, how do I apply this patch? simply save it to some location, e.g. /tmp Then change to the directory containing the hpoj sources, e.g. /tmp/hpoj-0.91 and use the cat(1) and the patch(1) commands to apply the patch: $ cat /tmp/patch | patch -p1 patching file lib/hpojip/xjpg_fix.c Of course, you could also apply this simple patch manually (the "-" line denotes lines which have been removed, the "+" lines those which have been added, so effectively the patch replaces #define MYLOCATE(p) (void *)(p)=(g->headerBuffer+lenAddedHeader) with #define MYLOCATE(p) p=(g->headerBuffer+lenAddedHeader) ), but this becomes more difficult with more complicated patches of course ;-) Best Regards, Andreas - -- Andreas Fester mailto:an...@li...
