You're very welcome to help with HP3400C support.

Although many people sent me USB logs (or offered to do so), there
is currently no-one actively working on support for this scanner.
It would be great if you could do some investigation on it.

Please tell me your sourceforge id (beattie I suppose) and I'll
add you as a developer to the projects as soon as possible.
