It appears anyway that Bernhard is no longer with us. Has not been for quite some time.
My main interest is in having some of my own work incorporated into the program.
The Filter digits I made are on the same page, but it's been six years - so I don't remember exactly.
I think I was happy with the grey (solved) numbers, but decided to revise the unsolved display.
Even if my work doesn't help that much now, I would love to see the results in practice - and hence, possibly, make further refinements.
I'd love to redo the whole spectrom of colours used for ColorKu as well, instead of being a donkey.
Any help?

Especially since the last major update to Win 10 changed the look of my display - increased contrast, or something - I think the ColorKu mask really needs some attention.
I did a little more work on it recently too, so it looks like this now.
Using the .jar file, I discovered recently, it is a simple procedure to import image files such as shading mask for Colorku and filter digits for standard sudoku. Colour changes, as mentioned previously, can be saved as .hcfg files and uploaded here.
There's a few things I can't do, however, such as change the appearance of inactive state on ColorKu filter bar and fix a couple of bugs (within my range of understanding). I'm getting some help with those and some other matters though, because I think it's worth doing.
Not at all intending to take over the project. Couldn't if I wanted to. Just trying to improve the look of it to better suit the excellence of Bernhard's work.
Hi Rick, glad to see your interest in the project.
Actually, "2.1.1" is a typo. It should be 2.2.1. It is based on 2.2 anyway. I noticed the mistake in another post, but forgot about this one.
Another mistake I made was using some peculiar brightness/contrast settings on my system when setting up default colours for Colorku. I'm still adjusting colours with more standard b/c, and made a small change to the the toggle filter icon. Here's my latest results:

I did a lot toward the ColorKu version (and colour settings in general) and think I had a more refined version of the mask used, but, due to illness suffered by myself as well, missed being able to post them in time for this latest version.
I also did some work on the digits for Filter display. The discussion all looks a bit confusing to me now, but this is the latest ColorKu mask I posted:

For example:
An actual 9-based spectrum. Could do with some work yet...

And the filter numers for HoDoku. I can't tell how they might work without seeing them in action, especially with the different look and feel options.
Turns out, it's easy enough to upload an alternative colour scheme for ColorKu.
Still wish I could find someone to update the ColorKu mask, as well as Filter numbers, on which I have made further refinements.
The x/y would need to be included on ColorKu Filter bar too, I reckon.

Why did you fork 2.1.1, rather than 2.2?
There is now this one, Rick, https://github.com/1to9only/HoDoKu/releases/tag/2.2.2
Now there's this. yay
