Benoit, Can you share the result set proxy that you have?  I have the same problem, and am getting around it by not loading all my data in one sql statement.   While debugging this problem, I found quite a few posts on the net about it.  It sounds like something we should update in the wiki (http://www.hibernate.org/80.html).  MS SQL's JDBC driver may be buggy, but it is very popular because it is free and from Microsoft...
