Line 216 of org.hibernate.engine.ForeignKeys class is this:

					throw new TransientObjectException(

					);

but should rather be this:

					throw new TransientObjectException(
							"object references an unsaved transient instance - save the transient instance before flushing: " +
							(entityName == null ? session.guessEntityName( object ) : entityName)
					);
