Class org.hibernate.util.ConfigHelper starting at line 137:
		if (classLoader!=null) {
			stream = classLoader.getResourceAsStream( stripped );
		}
		if ( stream == null ) {
			Environment.class.getResourceAsStream( resource );
		}
		if ( stream == null ) {
			stream = Environment.class.getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream( stripped );
		}

Shouldn't the Environment.class.getResourceAsStream() return value be also assigned?
