I'm about 10 minutes into using HexEdit, a welcome addition to my small group of utilities.
I need to change the Type/Creator codes for a group of tiles. Since I'm getting them via Email from a non-Mac mainframe, they lack those two fields. I don't know how to modify those fields in HexEdit. I know what I need them to be, but HexEdit doesn't seem to want to let me up to that (header?) area of the file contents display. What am I missing? Help.

Changing the type/creator of a file is one of the open feature requests for HexEdit. It shouldn't be that difficult to add, just have to create the UI for it.
Until then, the easiest way to change the type/creator is with ResEdit, or there are a few utilites for OS X to do this. My favorite is a "File Utils" CMM (look on version tracker).
FYI; the type/creator codes are part of the finder DB, and not part of the finder itself which is why you can't find them in the files.
