It works beautifully. I have tested it on all my mbx's without issues. It cleans up the mbx files and doesn't cause any issues with Eudora "repairing" the mbx's/toc's. As far as I'm concerned, it solves the UTF-8 issue in a perfectly good way.
Now, this fix works on mailboxes but I'm trying to use it on messages, in real time with a filter. It does not like working on open mailboxes or system ones (In, Out, Trash, Spam).
So I tried this:
Match: Incoming
Transfer to: TEMP mailbox
Notify Application: fix_mbx.bat with TEMP as the argument
Transfer to: In mailbox
proceed with any other filters
The issue is that Eudora doesn't wait for #3 to end before continuing.
Any thoughts appreciated.

This isn't Hermes related, directly, but I think it may benefit some users.
A user referred me to this script to fix UTF-8 and other issues in any mailbox:

I would ask the author of the script in github if there is anything which can be done.
Just raise it as an issue there.
I have but he doesn't know anything about Eudora filters, that is how they work.
I'm hoping the devs here can explain.
