Initial hdperf hard drive performance benchmark release

The first public version of a comprehensive block-level hard drive benchmark has been released for Linux with more platform support to come later (or it may just work). A sample of the output can be seen on http://hdperf.sourceforge.net/ The aim is to be more comprehensive than other freely available benchmarks, as well as provide more easily understood output. Portability is important -- Windows XP support coming soon to a future release providing hopefully the easiest way to make apples to apples comparisons of hard drives. For safety, the current version only tests in *read-only* mode.
