Treo 650 hangs when schedule backup take place.

Cannot resolve where is the problem. Treo keybord lights remain on while the screen is turn off. No keys work. Battery must be removed to restart the phone.

    1. Are you using the option to turn the screen off during the scheduled backup?

    2. Did you try waiting 15 minutes to see if the backup might just finish normally?

I have a similar issue with the 680.

If I have "Screen off when scheduled" ticked, it wakes up, turns the screen and keypad backlights on and displays the "Scheduled backup in 20 seconds" splash screen. After 20 seconds it turns off the display backlight, leaves the keypad backlight on and launches into the backup.
If it has a problem with the backup for some reason, here it hangs..hard and when I finally wake up and notice the keypad backlight is on and it's hung hard I have to do a battery out soft reset. When it comes back up it gives me the "Backup failed" message. If it completes normally then it just turns off the keypad backlight.

If I leave the "Screen off when scheduled" unticked, then it just does the normal 20 second spash screen, launches into the backup and then the screen times out when it finishes as normal.

Unfortunately I've not been able to reproduce a hanging backup when I do manual backups. It always seems to happen only on a scheduled backup. Still looking into it though.

Is there anything I can do to help debug the hanging problems, or is it intrinsic with the way you access NVFS and some apps having something open ?

As for the backlight thing, it'd be nice if it detected the device was not in use, ie backlight not on and just launched into the backup without waking up the screen.. I guess the keypad backlight probably helps as some form of indicator that either the backup is running or has died.. not sure about that yet.

Nice piece of work though, *really* useful.

One request. Would it be possible to add pool.ntp.org into the list of timeservers? or are you relying on something more along the lines of rdate than ntp? I've not really delved into the code yet.
