For what it's worth, I committed a small change to autogen.sh back on March 11 at Rev 2854 where I added '-e' to line 84's echo command. Without it the string wasn't being parsed correctly and the 1.5.x version from a new Debian Lenny install was being regarded as newer than the bundled version! It hadn't been caught before as I had backports enabled on the old laptop I built the daily snapshots with and it had 2.2.6b installed. I don't know if Chris ran afoul of that or not. As for Python slowing the build, I've not seen it as I disable the Perl and Python bindings on my local builds. Is there any benefit to having them built by default? Would it be "better" to disable them by default so that people "who know what they are doing" could enable them if needed? 73, de Nate >> -- "The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds.
