I am sorry to hear of your health issues, Mike. I wish I were in a position to help but am also of the same cohort of ageing and ailing hams. Many, many thanks for having picked up the onerous task of updating hamlib and maintaining it. Judging by the many check-in emails you seem to have been working 24/7. Your support of those who had problems has not gone unnoticed. I wish you well for the future. 73 Phil GM3ZZA On 8 March 2023, at 17:49, Black Michael via Hamlib-developer <ham...@li...> wrote: I'm looking for someone to take over Hamlib due to health problems. Mostly written in C so would take someone fairly C knowledgeable. Any volunteers can be a co-pilot for a while to learn while fixing some of the outstanding issues and any bugs that come up to help bring you up to speed. Mike W9MDB |

Michael, I started my career in C over 30 years ago. Lately it's been more C++ and Python but I still love going back to the simplicity of C. Recently the angel of RIF did not pass me by and I find myself with a lot more free time on my hands. I'd be interested in learning more and working with you to keep Hamlib going. Or (under Linux at least)... rotctl -l > lines nano lines And nano will tell you how many lines of text it has read, -1 for the header, gives you the number of them... There are two ways to get more information. The -u switch of rigctl will tell you the transceiver type but you would need to call rigctl 250+ times for each model number. The programmatic way is to look at list_models in rigctl_parse.c and rotctl_parse.c to see how to iterate through all the models. It would be easy to modify that to count rigs/rots or specific types of them. typedef enum { RIG_FLAG_RECEIVER = (1 << 1), /*!< Receiver 2 */ RIG_FLAG_TRANSMITTER = (1 << 2), /*!< Transmitter 4 */ RIG_FLAG_SCANNER = (1 << 3), /*!< Scanner 8 */ RIG_FLAG_MOBILE = (1 << 4), /*!< mobile sized 16 */ RIG_FLAG_HANDHELD = (1 << 5), /*!< handheld sized 32 */ RIG_FLAG_COMPUTER = (1 << 6), /*!< "Computer" rig 64 */ RIG_FLAG_TRUNKING = (1 << 7), /*!< has trunking 128 */ RIG_FLAG_APRS = (1 << 8), /*!< has APRS 256 */ RIG_FLAG_TNC = (1 << 9), /*!< has TNC 512 */ RIG_FLAG_DXCLUSTER = (1 << 10), /*!< has DXCluster 1024 */ RIG_FLAG_TUNER = (1 << 11) /*!< dumb tuner 2048 */ } rig_type_t; define ROT_TYPE_OTHER 0 #define ROT_TYPE_AZIMUTH ROT_FLAG_AZIMUTH #define ROT_TYPE_ELEVATION ROT_FLAG_ELEVATION #define ROT_TYPE_AZEL (ROT_FLAG_AZIMUTH|ROT_FLAG_ELEVATION) Mike W9MDB On Monday, March 6, 2023 at 05:56:39 AM CST, Georgina Joyce <ge...@ge...> wrote: Hello All, I wondered where I obtain the number of each category of radio is supported buy rigctl? Hello, Newbie here trying to get my feet wet with Hamlib. I downloaded and installed Hamlib-w64-4.5.4.exe on my laptop and hamblib-4.5.5-tar.gz in my RPi4B. I can successfully connect to my IC-9700 from both my laptop and my Pi and read the VFOA frequency for example. Sending the "f" command from my PI is different as it switches the radio into Transmit momentarily and then switches back to receive. I only noticed because my radio was set to a Repeater frequency, and the frequency returned was the transmitting (offset) frequency for the Repeater. I changed to a Simplex frequency but the behavior remains the same, for each command the radio switches to Transmit. Is there an explanation for that and can that be changed? Bernd - KB7AK |
