[Gwc-general] "Soundfile format not allowed."

I've been using gwc for several years very successfully with CD format 
wav files.
Now I guess I'm lost trying to understand the different sound formats, 
but I want to try to edit
24bit/48khz files in gwc (.19-10) but I'm getting a "Soundfile format 
not allowed." error.
Reading the libsndfile info, I thought this would be possible. I 
recorded with
arecord -D plughw:0,0 -f S24_LE -r48000 -c 2  -t wav
How can I make this work?
