I know I am bumping an old thread but this is one of the top Google results when searching for this info. Based on the info here I have written a small tool that prints the die ID, and can also be used to generate other random strings from a template (e.g. MAC addresses). It assumes a 16-byte die ID at 0x4830A218 in /dev/mem, and it has only been tested on an Overo WaterSTORM. It is on pastebin here: http://pastebin.com/PauHU65x It is also here: Example (prints die ID, generates two MAC addresses, generates a version 4 random UUID -- these will be consistent on one Gumstix but unique [most likely] among many Gumstix): -- View this message in context: http://gumstix.8.x6.nabble.com/How-to-obtain-Die-ID-other-Unique-ID-from-user-code-tp561592p4968148.html Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
