I tried to google search for it and came up empty. He probably meant ksymoops. It was used for parsing kernel oops messages for kernels 2.4.x and below. Our kernel 2.6.x does not use it anymore, the functionality of ksymoops is built directly into the kernel. I got my image to build by just removing the mention of ksymoops from the omap3-console-image.bb recipe.
