Cool.. Thanks for the info! We will be providing a operating system and software application that runs on Overo and expansion board without electrical modification or additional electronic components. I equate it to a very small clone computer and it looks like FCC part 15 will apply. I will start looking into lab testing and really appreciate the note. From: ma...@ad... To: gum...@li... Best bet if you are planning to go to market is to get your early prototypes into an EMC lab for review (also they will be able to guide you to the standards which apply to your application). Gumstix don’t self-certify their devices as the tests are application specific. There are high speed clocks in gumstix devices so you can have problems if your design isn’t right, and you really have little choice but to test your designs in a lab. Also, don’t assume that your design will pass first time – if you haven’t done this before, odds on you are going to have some issues. M. Subject: [Gumstix-users] gumstix powered - certifications Hello, I was hoping to get the advice of others in the community for industry certifications of products based on Gumstix components. We currently offer a service that will leverage a Gumstix powered micro appliance. The device does not use any wireless technology and we do not sell the hardware (we provide it as part of the service). Does anyone offer a similar Gumstix powered service and were any certifications required (e.g. FCC or UL)? We know this ultimately is a legal discussion but would certainly appreciate any recommendations or go-to-market experiences to reference. Also, we would like to transition to selling these units and would also appreciate advice on certifications required for this as well. Thanks for your help!
