Hi Jenna; You can, as the other poster said, watch and to some extent control the boot process of a Gumstix from any PC that can run a serial communications program such as SmartTerm. The Gumstix should boot all by itself, "out of the box". In order to write and compile code, you need either a cross-compiler on your PC or a Gumstix image that contains the GCC compiler and other components ...
