Dear all, I currently have a gumstix overo water, mounted on a chestnut, and looking to control another piece of hardware via serial port. I am looking for other options other than using the 2-wire serial port supplied by the chestnut board, namely the USB Host and USB OTG. So I would like to post some questions about it:- 1. Is it feasible for one to use the USB Host or the USB OTG as a serial port? If yes, which USB port would be more suitable for the job? 2. If I understand this correctly, ttyUSB* is the serial port equivalent that hangs on the USB port denoted by *, and usbmon is the general USB sniffer (USB monitor). Is my understanding correct in general? 3. If (1) is feasible, then, if I am not mistaken, the next step I have to do is to create the ttyUSB*, since there's only usbmon0, usbmon1, and usbmon2 inside the /dev/ directory. Are there specific steps to do this? (I tried to follow the steps posted http://www.mwgaa.com/blog/2010/01/17/gumstix-eat-your-pyserial/ here , to fail at the insmod part) I am using the palmtop-image dated 27.04.2010 on the Gumstix. Thank you all in advance Regards, Mohamad Najib -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/USB-Host-USB-OTG-as-serial-tp28777861p28777861.html Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
