I think Wenhuas question is the other way around. The Overo is having a
24-bit LCD output and the LCD a 18-bit interface. In this case the correct
approach would be to connect it as described by Wenhua and just letting the
unused pins on the Overo float (or use them for something else - i.e. GPIO's
in case wanted?). 

And in this case I'm sure you agree that it doesn't make sense to fix the
unused pins together - nor to GND/VCC :-)
