Hi All; I'm trying to slim down the angstrom distribution that's used for the Overo and I'm not exactly sure where to start... For my purposes USB, Bluetooth, network, multimedia device support, none of that is needed so I've already followed directions posted to the list and elsewhere and created a user.collection folder in my OE root, modified the kernel config and have that installed and running. Where I'm stuck though is how to remove features from the OS and user space like ppp, nfs support, avahi and others. I know packages can be included using MACHINE_FEATURES and DISTRO_FEATURES but I'm not sure of the best way to customize those given I'd like to keep my changes out of what I'm pulling from the git repo (like I've done for the custom kernel) and avoid modifying ${OE_ROOT}/org.openembedded.dev/conf/machines/overo.conf and ${OE_ROOT}/org.openembedded.dev/conf/distro/angstrom-2008.1.conf directly. Can the aforementioned variables be included in my bitbake config? (e.g. ${OE_ROOT}/build/conf/local.conf) Are there other ways I should or could dictate what's installed? Can those changes be made outside the git tree? Thanks in advance... Chris |
