Okay, I am trying to develop a custom GTK+ application on the Verdex Pro XLP6. I have been pulling my hair out for weeks now. I have tried installing the pre-built gumstix-x11-image and the kernel. I have built my own gumstix-x11-image and my own kernel. I have applied every combination of these in an effort to try and run my own GTK+ application. The gumstix-x11-image installs fine and launches matchbox on bootup. Great! Matchbox is a beautiful, but useless application to me. So I remove the scripts from /etc/X11/Xsession.d and it no longer launches at bootup. After which I attempt to launch my gtk application, which fails saying "Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:" So I try 'startx', 'Xserver', 'Xsession', 'Xfbdev' commands all with some combination of "--display :0" or just ":0" as an option and I get varying results always with the warning "Extended Input Devices not yet supported. Impelement it at line 637 in kinput.c". The best results so far are from running Xserver. This seems to launch a nice high-resolution Xwindow but then my script in /etc/X11/Xsession.d results in the following error after which the window simply closes. ************************************************************************************* Extended Input Devices not yet supported. Impelement it at line 637 in kinput.c D-BUS per-session daemon address is: unix:abstract=/tmp/dbus-nX7D6bEMI2,guid=6872ac53747f9ceb359cd30000000faa run-parts: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90xXWindowManager exited because of uncaught signal 11: Success waiting for X server to shut down FreeFontPath: FPE "built-ins" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing. ************************************************************************************* QUESTION1: What is the proper command for starting the Xserver and calling your own program on the Gumstix Verdex Pro using the gumstix-x11-image? QUESTION2: Where do you put the script that launches these proper commands? QUESTION3: Is there some key documentation that I can read that will this far less frustrating? QUESTION4: Can someone recommend to me a better solution for creating a GUI applications on the Gumstix Verdex Pro? -John Buckley -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/GUI-help-with-GTK-on-Verdex-Pro-tp25319325p25319325.html Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
