We're you truly not using the console port? If its enabled in the kernel its always being used.

Now this probably ISN'T the right way, but i'd change the kernel option to use another port for the console. The one that is directed to the bluetooth module that you're probably not using.

The right way would probably be to use Uboot to change the Mux so you can use UART2 as your second port, and that way you save the RS232-> usb serial for kernel debug messages.

I would like to be able to connect two serial devices to the overo
simultaneously. I already have /dev/ttyS0 working from pins 9 and 10 on the
Summit board pin outs, but I am having difficulties with using /dev/ttyS2
through pins 21 and 22.

Looking at the schematics for the Summit, I see that /dev/ttyS2 is connected
to an FTDI chip that does USB to serial conversion for the USB console port,
so I am assuming that you cannot use a second serial device while
communicating to the overo through the console port. But my question is do I
have to disable the console port somehow in order to connect a second a
serial device? or do I just make sure that only one of the two is using
/dev/ttyS2 at a time to avoid conflict?
Note that in my failed test, I was communicating to the overo through WiFi,
so the console port was not being used, but /dev/ttyS2 still failed.

I have seen at least one post where people have successfully used ttyS2 for
serial communication, and they made it sound straightforward, so I am hoping
that there would be a simple fix for this.
