Hi Rod, I agree, it does seem like an error in bitbake, or at least a reliability issue. Unfortunately, that was my first day working with bitbake and openembedded, so I'm not sure why it failed. For now I'm planning on helping bitbake along with builds and seeing what I learn. As for the cause, my best guess is some of the files were not downloaded during the normal build process, but bitbake continued without raising an error. That definitely seems like a problem to me. I noticed that once a task is completed, it isn't restarted unless a clean/rebuild is done, so I tried that and fortunately it worked. I haven't yet tried a complete rebuild of the whole image. It is also possible that a problem was introduced to the build files at some point. I'm probably not the best person to trouble shoot that, but my guess was that more people would be complaining if it was an issue checked into the repository. I did find that you can view checkin history at: http://gitorious.org/gumstix-oe I haven't really taken a look yet.
