I confess I am a little confused about the gentoo requirement you mention below. I thought the bitbake system, which I have running under Debian Etch (?) n a Parallel virtual on my Intel Mac, and which successfully builds the basic gumstix image, is doing cross-compiling to achieve that. So if it is building everything else cross to arm, why not gdb and gdbserver?
