I just rcv'd a new connex and I'm trying to bring a netCF board (actually have two) up for ethernet. But, I'm having problems. I commented out bluetooth and wlan (since I have neither) in /etc/network/interfaces and uncommented for eth0 to: auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp But, I rcv the error: ==== root@gumstix-custom-basix:~$ /etc/init.d/networking start Setting up IP spoofing protection: rp_filter. Configuring network interfaces... udhcpc (v1.2.1) started SIOCGIFINDEX failed!: No such device done. === If I make eth0 static and try, I receive basically the same error: === root@gumstix-custom-basix:~$ ifup eth0 SIOCSIFADDR: No such device SIOCSIFNETMASK: No such device SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device route: SIOC[ADD|DEL]RT: No such device === -- OR -- === root@gumstix-custom-basix:~$ /etc/init.d/networking restart Reconfiguring network interfaces... route: SIOC[ADD|DEL]RT: No such device SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device SIOCSIFADDR: No such device SIOCSIFNETMASK: No such device SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device route: SIOC[ADD|DEL]RT: No such device done. === At boot, it looks like the system recognizes the netCF device: === U-Boot 1.2.0 (Dec 21 2007 - 13:31:10) - 400 MHz - 1578M *** Welcome to Gumstix *** DRAM: 64 MB Flash: 16 MB Using default environment SMC91C1111-0 Net: SMC91C1111-0 === I've tried this on two netCF boards with the same result. I couldn't find anything on the wikis about bringing the eth0 up with this type of error. I had another connex board that DID work by modifying the /etc/networking/interfaces file or executing: 'ifup eth0". But, this board does not (the other board is a bit old.)
