NOTE: This is most effective on workstations/servers that have multiple CPUs or Multi-Core CPUs. My own experience on doing full gumstix-oe builds on a single core Pentium4 machine and a Quad Core Core2 Duo machine has been an improvement in build times of about a factor of 6x. You can make a simple adjustment to the gumstix-oe/build/conf/site.conf to make it use all of the available CPUs on a build machine by uncommenting the last two lines: # Uncomment these lines to enable parallel make. # This allows make to spawn mutliple processes to take advantage of multiple # processors. Useful on SMP machines PARALLEL_MAKE = "-j 4" BB_NUMBER_THREADS = "4" -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/OE-Building-Tip-Parallel-Building-tp16678809p16678809.html Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
