I have a Verdex XM4, Robostix, NetwifimicrsoSD stack which I'm powering using a pair of Dimension Engineering's adjustable switching regulators. I have one supplying +5 for the board stack, and the other supplying +6 for servos via the Robostix servo power connector (after cutting the jumper between the two power pins). Source power is a pair of 12V NiMH battery packs. Works fine for me so far. ----------------------------------------------------- Jay Phillips Tronix LLC - http://tronixllc.com _____ From: gum...@li... I will basically be converting an R/C boat to be teleoperated via a wifi link by replacing the R/C receiver with my Verdex-xm4/netwifimicrosd/Robostix stack. I will likely power it with an electric motor and one main battery. I'm thinking of using a fairly standard brushless ESC and brushless motor and probably an A123 Racing lithium battery over 14V. I've been doing a bit of research on switching voltage regulators and power supplies and found some products from www.dimensionengineering.com <http://www.dimensionengineering.com/> that may do the trick. I should be able to control the ESC by simply connecting the ESC control lead into an open PWM port on my Robostix. Power would be supplied to the Gumstix stack using Dimension Engineering's switching SportBEC (http://www.dimensionengineering.com/SportBEC.htm). I think I can simply make an adapter to plug the BEC's RX lead into the Robostix power jack. Using the SportBEC, I can switch voltage between 5V and 6V to whatever works best. The SportBEC handles up to 3.5 A current. Is this too much current for Robostix? Has anybody ever done anything like this before? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
