If your devices only respond to unique poll commands you can actually hook them all up to the same RS232 line. I've done this before. But if they all respond to the same command you can't do that unless they recognize DTR so you can poll them individually. If you have a Verdex you might be able to use a couple of these USB adapters: http://www.keyspan.com/products/usa49wg -- I'm not sure if the USB drivers on the verdex can support this thing but it seems generic enough that it should.
