Dave, Thanks for the quick reply! I supplied the clock to pin 24 to get the AVRISP to reprogram the fuses. Yes, I have the jumpers as per http://docwiki.gumstix.org/Robostix_gumstix_ISP ...and no, I have nothing else plugged in to it. Once the fuses are set for internal crystal, I remove the external clock from pin 24 and everything works. If that were the case, then you wouldn't have been able to use AVRISP without providing an external clock. I'll give building 1559 a try. I've been using 1574 without any issues.
