Hi Len, I do have the Net-MMC board fitted but no card. With regard to the corrupt JFFS2 partition I have tried waiting 6hrs+ = with no further messages. I can also view the file system OK from uBoot and = can see /dev/console. As far as I can see the build process completed OK i.e. it ran start to finish with no errors. I was wondering if there have been any changes to = the serial port naming used by the kernel? I've been building on a Debian with the 2.4 kernel so I have had the = usual depmod problems. Not sure if there is anything else about my build environment that could cause this. Rgds, Alex. -----Original Message----- From: gum...@li... Subject: Re: [Gumstix-users] unable to open an initial console Alex, I just noticed something else that may be important. I don't know=20 whether you have a Net-MMC board attached to your connex, but after=20 inserting a micro-SD card into my (verdex) unit's net-microSD, the first = message after the "protocol family" message is a report of initializing=20 the mmcblk0 MMC/SD block driver. So the problem you're seeing is still likely related to the new JFFS2=20 image since that appears to be the most recent change to your setup. But = it may also relate to the relationship between your hardware and the=20 configuration of the freshly built root image.
